Your ‘Bridge to Nowhere’ journey leaves at 9.00am from the most upper region of the Whanganui River, Taumarunui.

Travelling down stream you’ll pass through King Country farmland and bush clad hills then into the middles reaches of the Whanganui National Park.  

All this while challenging the rivers white water rapids along the way.
Within the Whanganui National Park we’ll see deep gorges masked in native bush, banks encased with ferns, caves, waterfalls and other amazing scenery.

Along the way see remnants of the days when the river was used by steamboats and of early settlement.  Arrive at the Mangapurua landing - gateway to the infamous Bridge to Nowhere

Bridge to Nowhere TrackA beautiful, easy 40 minute native bush walk will take you to the bridge.

Here you can sit and relax, have lunch and imagine what it must have been like to live there for the early pioneer.

The return journey is just as exciting with time to enjoy the scenery and plentiful bird and wild life. 

Arrive back in Taumarunui approximately 4.00pm.
